I feel like my life is made up of different versions of the same character. Sorta like how you have the Han Solo in his ice gear from Hoth, but you also have Han Solo in camo from Return of the Jedi, and you have that lame Han Solo in carbonite that really can't fight anyone...

Anyway, yeah, my life feels sorta like that these days. Depending on what time/day it is, I am...

Army Buddy - Army Buddy is pretty sweet. he's got all sorts of cool accessories, he jumps out of airplanes, he drives HMMWVs, he shoots guns, etc., etc. He's qualified in Arabic. He's got some time in service (though no deployment yet), and is considered somewhat experienced despite bieng in training up till now. All in all, a pretty cool action figure.

Gamer Buddy - This Buddy isn't quite as interesting. Sure, if you like video games or miniatures or RPGs, he's fun to talk to or play with, but otherwise he just seems sorta geeky. Ok, really geeky. He's not always even all that good at the games, and often loses, but somehow still enjoys them. He sometimes skips meals or ignores opportunities to go out and hang out, so that adds to his geeky-ness. Not a bad action figure, per se, but not one that you'd admit you liked.

Coffeeshop Buddy - The reader/thinker/talker. This Buddy was popular back at Geneva College, but not many are fans of this Buddy now. He doesn't have too many cool accessories (though his outfits are pretty cool), mostly consisting of thought-provoking books and a trendy coffee or tea beverage. Useful for certain scenarios, but lacks any cool moves or phrases.

Outdoors Buddy - This one is actually pretty cool, but really hard to find. He's got a pretty fun Jeep, and can hike, climb, and camp. Sorta weird outfits (cowboy hats, kilts, etc.), but some decent accessories (backpacks, boots). Biggest problem with this Buddy is he's so rare any more. During college you could find him, but now he's probably just available on eBay or something.

I'm sure there are others if I think about them. Some, like Pilot Buddy are completely out of production and will probably never be seen again. I think the biggest problem here is it's obviously not a reflection fo what others are thinking. It's a reflection of what I'm thinking, or what I'm thinking that others are thinking. I like certain aspects of myself better than I like others, and/or I am dead certain that people around me like certain aspects of me more than others.

I know it ought not be like that, but it's been such an overwhelming feeling as of late. I've become increasingly dissatisfied with my life outside of my job, because I feel like I only have identity in that realm. Or at least, that's the only identity that anyone thinks is cool. No one says "Oh, you like to read sci-fi novels? That's great, tell me about that!" Nope. Not happening. Rather, I hear "You went to Jump School? Wow! I would be so scared to do that! What was it like?!" And so on and so forth. I feel like the only thing in my life that anyone finds interesting is the Army, and when it comes to my friends in the Army, even that doesn't cut it.

So that's what I've been feeling as of late... Maybe I'll actually make the action figures, or at least paint up a few miniatures to represent these figures.

Or maybe I should let it go.

Or maybe I need to hash this out with God some more. Guess there's not really any "maybe" about it, is there?

هذا غزيب

Test Post

This is a token test post.
